Even though Pixel taking over nexus in 2016 and google deciding to dis-continue the Nexus series for smart phones, the question is is it a worth to buy a in range nexus over other phones?
This question can be answered considering following points:
I have been using both the devices for over an year now and over time can for sure say some things and clear some myths about the devices,
Nexus 5x which is available for approx 25,000 rupees
and Nexus 6p which is in buzz of its different prices currently available for 35000 rupees and competing with Oneplus3t
Even after pixel being launched both these devices are running on Android 7.1.1 and seems like it will continue to get updates timely and hence wont effect the luxury nexus always had.
Apart from the on paper specs i would like to let u understand some first hand experience which might effect your day to day usage.
NEXUS 6P
In my 1 year usage i have dropped my phone infinite number of times and it is still rock solid and as new as it ever was with only with few dents which cant really be noticed.
Hence i would rate it 8 on 10 in case of durability.
Battery life has been a plus point for nexus 6p, even with 5.7 inch screen the 3450 MAH battery lasts for a full working day and i really have never had any trouble as far as battery is conserned apart from sometimes some apps draining the battery completely and some issues while the mobile data in on, and it charges the phone from 0 to 100 in roughly just less than 2 hours.
Hence on my scorecard the battery for is 7 on 10.
The only trouble i face with the phone is about its covers and accessories, the phone is not the best seller or very famous hence there are hardly any covers or accessories available for it (excluding the tempered glass). Therefore if u are a sort of person who is really affected by the covers , then i am afraid you will have to largely depend upon customization or online purchases.
Camera has been standout throughout my use and specially in low lighting conditions, Camera is best in range and after the recent update it provides alot more setting and manual set up of the images which was missing earlier. Camera has been any day better than the products it is competing with and on comparison with devices like iphone5s, nexus 5x , iphone6 , op3 it won by far and they were not even near. so i would rate it 9 on 10 for camera performance.
NEXUS 5X
Coming to nexus 5x i never liked the idea of a plastic body premium phone, it was slightly over priced when launched but at 25,000 it is any day a good buy and can be considered specially if you are a fan of stock andriod.
My experience with nexus 5x has been a journey of ups and downs, While the problems of accessories is same as nexus 6p
Other problems like battery management is there,
At times with some updates it really starts consuming more battery but is rectified soon,
Camera is again best in class
Updates are on time
Durability is even better and is highly reliable also because of its plastic body.
Customer support is good and has helped me every time whenever i needed help
While these are some good things about the device there are some draw backs too, the look is not as impressive for a premium smart phone but that is totally subjective and depends upon what you make of it.
Conclusion
Well according to me if you are a person who is highly interested in stock android then these phones are certainly still a very good deal and are going to be held in market for a very long period of time due to highly priced pixel.
Nexus 6p at same price as Op3t: My pick would be nexus 6p as u get better camera and timely and pure android updates with good looks.
If budget is not an issue nexus 6p is any day a better smart phone to buy in 2017 specially with these daily new discounts available on it.
Nexus 5x on the other hand has got nothing more to offer than stock android and trust branding of nexus, hence you might conclude what to do.
